EPiC Business Writing

Introduction

In every business sector, the ability to communicate coherently is a must-have skill. Effective business writing will help you get the results you want when dealing with co-workers or clients and earn respect from your peers. Unlike many business writing courses, this is an outcomes-based course. Participants get hands-on practice using the writing platform corrector, followed by online and offline coaching sessions to evaluate their skills in writing. The course will be divided into two parts: in the first part the learners will learn the theory and guidelines of business writing, and in the second part they will get to apply the information they learned in their writing.

1 Overview

This module gives an overview of the course.

2 Introduction to Business Writing

This module focuses on the core rule of Business Writing. The writer must be able to write a clear message for the reader’s understanding.  The module focuses on knowing one's audience so as to appropriately apply the proper choice of words while avoiding business jargon and colloquialism, creating foolproof writing with correct grammar, syntax, and punctuation.

3 Spelling, grammar, sentence, and paragraphs

This module discusses common spelling errors, grammar, word choice, sentence structure, and paragraph organization. It gives you an insight on how to put professionalism to your writing. 

4 Document types and their considerations

This module explores the different types of documents, including agendas, reports, business letters, business cases, and proposals. Each document has a different purpose and a  different format therefore consideration is given on the appropriate format and language used. 

5 Finalizing formal document – informal written communication and social media

This module emphasizes the need for correct grammar and sentence structure in the creation of all types of documents. It talks about what are the merits and demerits of emails as well as the protocols to be observed in writing and sending communications via email. 

6 Cambridge Write and Improve writing platform

Upon successfully completing the 5 modules, the last step is the submission of the Business Writing document on the Write and Improve platform.
