Yong is currently working as a psychologist in Aquera and a lecturer in Alpha Omega International College. He holds a B. Social Science (Hons) Psychology at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and Master Science in Psychology (emphasis in Pastoral Counseling) at California Southern University. Currently, he is pursuing a Doctorate in Psychology, Applied Psychology at California Southern University. He has also completed certification courses in Hypnotherapy, Play Therapy for Children in Special Needs, Certified Relationship Workshop Facilitator for Life Coaches, and NLP (ongoing). Yong was used to working in the International Psychology Centre as a psychologist / KPI Manager / Employee Assistant Program (EAP) Project Manager for the past 6 years. He led the EAP project of Bank Negara Malaysia, Accenture, and Japanese Tobacco International.
During his period of practice, he has been seeing clients from Western and Eastern countries, including Australia, United Kingdom, UAE, China, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Burma, Singapore, and Malaysia. He was privileged enough to have worked with a wide variety of individuals from different cultures who are facing difficulties such as depression, anxiety, anger management, loss and grief, stress, couple/family relationship issues, parenting issues, and personal/career development. Yong also creates mental health awareness through talks and education in conferences (e.g., International Autistic Spectrum Disorders Conference 2019: Gut Health Tests and Treatment Children & Adults with ASD, 1st Holistic Medicines Symposium Pulau Pinang 2019: Neurotransmitter tests can help people with mental illness), corporate organizations (e.g., BNM, SP Setia, JTI, Accenture, Avon, Segi University, Camfill, Monier, Dexion, SunLife Malaysia, etc.), educational institutions (e.g., University of Reading, Chung Hwa High School, Qdees, and Facon Education Fair) and non-profit organizations (e.g., Full Gospel Assembly, Good Shepherd Assembly of God, Love Eternal Charity Association, and Nan Fang Buddhist Temple).
