We use interpersonal skills daily when we communicate and interact with others, individually and in groups. Those who are good at interpersonal skills are often more successful in their personal and career lives. Interpersonal skills include a wide variety of skills centered around communication, e.g., listening, questioning and rapport building. They also include the skills and attributes associated with emotional intelligence or understanding and managing your and others’ emotions. People with good interpersonal skills can work in a team or group and with others. They can communicate well with others, whether family, friends, colleagues, customers or clients. Interpersonal skills are therefore vital in all areas of life at work, in education and socially. Improving your interpersonal skills is through awareness of how you interact with others.
